At Feros we believe in being a fair landlord meaning we act transparently and always operate within danish rental law.
Having operated in Copenhagen for a while and spoken to quite a few tenants both danish and internationals, it’s clear that many people experience scams and greedy landlords. I have personally heard many examples of people loosing their deposit due to fake damages reported by a landlord who sees an opportunity to score a little extra money. I’ve have also been a victim of this practice myself in my youth.
The home rental business can also seem overwhelming and confusing. I see the same questions asked time and time again and often people have an incorrect idea about what is allowed and what is not. Most tenants believe the law is in favor of the landlord and landlords often think the law favors the tenants.
Rather than to try and argue in favor or against, I think transparency is the key. A good landlord is one that is transparent with how they operate and consistant in their actions. That’s we we don’t believe in using the common trick of setting a low rent, and then charging extra when the tenants moves out effectively confiscating the deposit to ensure profit.
The rules of being a good landlord
- Be transparent in your actions.
- Always operate within the rental law.
- Be fair in your dealingsĀ with tenants.
- Being a landlord is not just a privilige it carries obligations.
